Fireplace Fashion
Filed Under Affordable Interior Design, Inspiration, My Home | 5 Comments

Right now I’m thinking about fires and fireplaces, a lot. Why? Because we need a fire for this lovely faux chimney breast that we built and then cut an electric fire with marble surround shaped hole out of! The problem is that the fire we wanted is a “Wall Hung” fire and not a “Hole in the Wall” fire so it’s going back to the shop. Who knew these things could be so complicated? I find that I’m quite partial to the hole in the wall now though, it’s not as huge as it looks in the photo but we might have to reduce it in size a little. I don’t think I’m going to win this one though and an electric fire it will be, ah well. Here is some drool-worthy hole in the wall and traditional fireplace inspiration for your viewing pleasure…

I love the simplicity of the traditional fireplaces in the last three images. All images are from Shoot Factory bar the first one, which is from our living room!

Am I Off My Vintage Eames Rocker?
Filed Under Furniture, My Home, Shop Stuff, Vintage | 10 Comments

My amahahaaazing husband has come up trumps and bought me the chair of my dreams – a vintage Eames RAR rocker and I just can’t believe my luck for a) marrying such a wonderful man (yes pass the bucket I know but he really is the best and deserves the recognition) and b) for the find of the (mid) century!! I have been keeping a weather eye out for one of these bad boys for months, years in fact and thanks to Eimear from the lovely House & Home Magazine blog for the tip off, I managed to find this for a snip at €200 in the WildChild Originals half price sale. I received an email yesterday to inform me that the sale is still on guys so hurry and you might find your own piece of vintage heaven. Beware though if you’re paying by credit card, our bank subsequently called us out of concern that our card had been used in a place called Wildchild, bless ‘em. If only they had been so cautious about our spending during the heady days of the celtic tiger.
By the way, that’s a gorgeous Apple Tree Silk Cushion from ferm LIVING perched on top of it there – it’s available to buy from the shop. Oh and please excuse the hideous carpet in the photo, we haven’t replaced it yet because the building work continues….sigh.

Last week we launched a weekly competition on our Facebook page giving our fans the opportunity to win a €10 voucher. To be in with a chance to win the prize, all you have to do is come and chat to us at our “Virtual Watercooler” on Facebook – sounds too easy? Well it is! You see, sometimes things can get a little boring around here, don’t get me wrong we’re very busy ladies but we sometimes miss working with lots of people and the old chats that frequently take place by the office watercooler. So to brighten up our day and to participate in our customers’ lives a little more, we invite you to come and chat to us.
Last week’s winner has just been announced on our Facebook page – so congratulations Sarah! Why not pop by and say hello to be in with a chance to win this week’s prize? We would love to hear from you…

The Yvestown Blog

I just came across this gorgeous blog today via Decor8 and I am so in love with Yvonne’s beautiful home. She uses my favourite colour – white as the perfect backdrop for her amazing finds and pimps her furniture, particularly her IKEA pieces to give them her own unique style…
She also clearly has great taste because she chose the same colour Smeg as ours, go baby blue go!
