Delightful Bunting Surprise
Filed Under Gifts, Handmade, My Home, Shop Stuff, Wall decor | 4 Comments
What’s in a name? That which we call a rose… this beautiful bunting that’s what Bill! While going through the new arrivals of bespoke bunting for some customers the other day, I stumbled across this pretty piece with my name on it, both figuratively and literally! And there was a note from my lovely friend Aoife who creates this bunting by hand, wishing me a belated happy birthday. She is so sweet and so is my new bunting, which is taking pride of place above my office desk and it gives me a little lift every time I look up. It also reminds me that spring is just around the corner, yippee!

The Perfect Christmas Gift for Tea Lovers
Filed Under Christmas, Gifts, Shop Stuff | Leave a Comment
We all know at least one. They can usually be found lurking furtively by the kettle, anxiously waiting for the comforting click, signalling that they can proceed to the next step of their daily, no, hourly ritual. This is an addiction like no other, one that can only be satiated by an ancient herbal remedy of the gods. It relieves all tension and anxiety, rendering the addict more useful, less irritable and increasingly capable of normal human behaviour. The rest of us mere mortals have a lot to thank tea for.
Show your nearest and dearest tea addicts a little empathy this Christmas and give them the gift that keeps on giving them their daily fix – the Maya Tea Lovers Gift Set €59.95 from Mabel & Violet.

Christmas is a-Comin’
Filed Under Christmas, Gifts, Shop Stuff | 2 Comments
Oh where to start! Now that I’m back in the blogging seat once more, I have so much to tell you lovely folks that I don’t know where to start, eeek. I should probably start at the beginning but that would be boring and I’m way too excited about Christmas to even think about anything else at this very minute, so Christmas it will be.
I’ve been soooo busy over the last few weeks getting organised for our first proper Christmas here at Mabel & Violet towers. We had a soft launch just before Christmas last year to see how sales would go but we didn’t go all out like this year. This year we have created a Christmas section with Christmas Decor, a Christmas Gift List For Her and a Christmas Gift List For Him. Have you seen it yet? It includes loads of new products that I’m very excited about…
These are just some of our Christmas range, if you want to see more of what we have available just click here. Silver, teal and turquoise appear to be a common theme in our decorations this year, can you tell?

An Interior Design Expert No Less
Filed Under Affordable Interior Design, Furniture, Gifts, Kitchen, Textiles | 2 Comments
I received an email yesterday from a lovely man enquiring as to whether I design and fit kitchens, having seen images of our recent kitchen overhaul here on my blog. Unfortunately, the answer is no – I am merely a novice playing around with Ikea’s wonderful design software not Autocad or any other such technical wizardry. So there you have it – I am not an Interior Designer, nor do I claim to be but I know someone who is…in fact I know quite a few.
One such person is one of my blogging buddies Lorna from Garrendenny Lane Interiors – yep the one who tagged me recently giving me the opportunity to shame myself into answering those questions so honestly thus revealing that I am far less erudite and cultured than I try to appear.
Lorna has dedicated three whole rooms of her house to display beautiful collections of fabric, wallpaper, bedlinen, furniture, lighting and accessories in a most unique way giving customers the opportunity to see how these items work in a real home as opposed to a brightly lit shop floor. She also has an online shop, where a lot of these items can be purchased and delivered direct to your door. As if this isn’t enough to keep her busy, Lorna also provides a curtain making and fitting service as well as Interior Design consultancy. And when her busy day is done, she has two young children, herds of cattle and sheep, not to mention a few goats and acres of land to look after. She recently appeared on RTE’s programme “Not Enough Hours” – surprised? No, neither was I.
I just love the Designers Guild bedlinen range available from Garrendenny Lane Interiors…

Mabel LOVES this Grey Velvet Cosmetic Bag…
Filed Under Gifts, Mabel LOVES, Shop Stuff | Leave a Comment
and that means that there is 40% off for the month of July! Darlings, it’s Mabel here and I have decided to create my own section called “Mabel LOVES” where I will highlight my favourite products and absolute must haves from the shop. This month I have chosen the Grey Velvet Cosmetic Bag because I know it so well and love it so dearly. It is so practical because it holds so much, yet so devilishly handsome that I can unashamedly display it on my dressing table and even carry it in public. It just so happens that a friend of mine even uses hers as a handbag!

Who Moo-ved My Milk?
Filed Under Gifts, Kitchen, Shop Stuff, Tea Party | 6 Comments
I think this is one of those milk jugs that might just fall into the novelty category, meaning you’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. I love it, my husband loves it but my mother hates it. It has passed the rigorous Mabel & Violet test meaning they both love it but what do you think? Moo Cow Ceramic Milk Jug €9.95 – love it or hate it?

Filed Under Gifts, Shop Stuff, Tea Party, Weddings | Leave a Comment
Extra, extra, read all about it! With all this fine weather we’re having at the moment (I know, I know, touch wood and all that) I am delighted to announce the joyous arrival of our brand spanking new Picnic Baskets here at Mabel & Violet! I just love them and anyone, ok any girl, who has clapped eyes on these beauties has gasped and practically jigged on the spot with sheer joy at the very gorgeousness of them. And when I tell them that they only cost €49.95 the same joy becomes utter disbelief at the super duper recession friendly value for money on offer before their very eyes!! Are you sold yet? If that’s not enough to convince you, here is a list of what’s inside:
- 4 x Ceramic Plates
- 4 x Acrylic Wine Glasses
- 4 x Knives
- 4 x Forks
- 4 x Spoons
- 4 x Cotton Napkins
- 1 x Bottle Opener
- Salt & Pepper Shakers
And if you don’t want to snap one of these up for yourself, they make a stunning wedding present…for the bride and groom that have everything! The beauty is that you can actually personalize them with lots of goodies, like wine and gourmet delights for the foodies, beer and munchies for a laid back couple or my personal favourite – how about some Lyons/Barrys (delete as appropriate!) tea and a few ham sandwiches for a truly Irish picnic affair! The beauties are available for delivery by courier to Ireland and the UK at a cost of just €8.00.

Lisbeth Dahl & Garden Trading Products Coming Back in Stock Very Soon
Filed Under Gifts, Shop Stuff, Weddings | 5 Comments
Things have been a bit mental around here lately with both Mabel & Violet and the renovations, so we headed off for a few days last week to try to unwind and clear the aul heads. I was fortunate enough to have someone to look after the business side of things while I was away and sure we just left the builders to their own devices – not a good idea some might say but we didn’t have any problems anyway.
It was back to work with a bang though on Tuesday and things did not let up during our brief hiatus. The new Lisbeth Dahl and Garden Trading stock is literally flying off the shelves at the moment and I can’t seem to keep it in stock. I will be getting more of the Ivory Pagoda Umbrellas, Green & Cream Birdhouses, Apple Green Miners Lanterns, Silver Plated Brass Cakestands and the very popular Warley Blue Teapot and Mugs back in stock in the next few weeks. Watch out also for some more new and exciting products coming soon…
