Who We Are

Owned and operated by Paula Asple, Mabel & Violet is an online boutique selling an eclectic range of homewares, gifts and fashion accessories based in Dublin, Ireland. Having spent nine years working in the hotel industry, Paula understands a thing or two about customer service and feels that providing superior customer service is essential to operating an online retail business. "We want to develop relationships with our customers and we place them at the centre of our business, building relationships is about building trust and this can sometimes be difficult in the online arena. The retail sector is currently undergoing a tough time but online retail is still emerging in this country as a safe and efficient medium in which consumers can consistently find value. Mabel & Violet is an online shop that is positioned to offer value for money, security, efficiency, quality, reliability and is a brand in which our customers can trust."

Most people are keen to know where the name for the online shop came from and yes, Mabel and Violet were real people, great aunts of Paula's husband in fact! They shared a small cottage in the Irish countryside and were two very passionate and remarkable ladies. Mabel worked in Weir's Jewellers, on Dublin's famous Grafton Street, for many years. She loved jewellery, which was evident in the pride that she took in her work and she often made her own jewellery pieces. Violet was a homemaker with an inherent love of cooking and gardening and she was excellent with her sewing machine, making cushions and curtains that adorned their lovely home. The products that we sell are inspired by Mabel and Violet's passions and also by Paula's love of home accessories, contemporary design, art and crafts, all things vintage and DIY interior decorating! Thus Mabel and Violet's legacy lives on through the eclectic range of jewellery, home accessories and gifts sold at extremely reasonable prices and backed up by good old fashioned service with a smile. We like to think that it would make both ladies very proud indeed!

What We Do

Here at Mabel & Violet, we are always on the lookout for things that are a little bit different, extremely affordable and, above all, that will make someone happy. We love nothing more than surrounding ourselves with beautiful things and sharing our love of home accessories, jewellery, fashion and gifts with our customers, and visitors to our online boutique. Our range of products varies greatly from vintage inspired candle holders to contemporary graphic wallpaper and everything in between.

We are constantly expanding and changing our product range and will be adding lots more items such as furniture, additional lighting, mirrors, toiletries, children’s accessories and not forgetting, of course, about the boys - there will soon be lots more items of interest for you here too!

Gifts

If you are looking for a gift that is a little bit special and won’t cost the earth then we think you have come to the right place. We have created a virtual treasure trove of beautiful gifts to suit all kinds of budgets and gift buying could not be easier with us. Once you have selected your gift, simply let us know the address of the lucky recipient and the message you want the card to read and we will take care of the rest. We will even gift wrap it for you absolutely free of charge! The only downside is that you will never have an excuse for missing someone’s birthday again!

Homewares

Here at Mabel & Violet, we firmly believe that decorating your home should be a pleasure, not a chore, and what better way than to buy the things you need to complete your home from the comfort of your living room. Who has the time these days to go from shop to shop comparing products and prices, only to discover that the only cushions available to match your bedroom colour scheme were in the first shop you visited over three hours earlier! One of the great features of our online boutique is that you can create wish lists, which are simply lists of all of your favourite items in store that you would like to buy or, better still, have someone else buy for you!

You can create as many wish lists as you like and send them to your friends and family just in time for Christmas or your birthday! Wedding Wish lists are also extremely popular and are so easy to manage for the blushing bride and groom and they make life for your wedding guests an absolute breeze!
